Algolia is looking for a Solutions Engineering Manager to lead and grow our AMER Solutions Engineer (SE) team, covering the US, supporting Commercial & SMB SEs. Our SEs collaborate with Algolia users to understand their business challenges, architect and develop solutions, and serve as deep subject matter experts on Algolia's products and services, helping our prospects, customers, and users solve real-world problems through code, advice, and content.

Rolling up to the Director, Solutions Engineering as part of SE leadership, you will lead a team of approximately 5 Solutions Engineers, with direct accountability for technical wins, deal-level coaching, ramp of new hires, and partnership with Sales, Customer Success, and Product leaders across AMER. You will be the technical leader closest to our customers in the region, both internally and externally, and a critical part of how we continue to scale Solutions Engineering across AMER.

This is the right role for a hands-on technical leader who balances team development, customer-facing presence, and cross-functional execution. The ideal candidate combines a solid mix of management and business experience with technical knowledge, a passion for data driven leadership, and a coaching mindset, who is known for developing people, not just closing deals.

YOUR ROLE WILL CONSIST OF

• Leading approximately 5 Solutions Engineers covering Commercial, Enterprise, and Strategic accounts across AMER 
• Developing your SEs to facilitate technical storytelling and drive the narrative during our pre-sales cycle
• Owning accountability for all aspects of the technical evaluation across AMER deals - starting in the discovery stage (SS2), progressing through evaluation (SS3), and all the way to business close
• Partnering with the regional Sales leader and AEs in AMER to align SE coverage, prioritize pursuits, and build joint pipeline and account strategy
• Coaching individual SEs on consultative selling; uncovering customer business outcomes and mapping Algolia capabilities to quantifiable ROI
• Championing the adoption of AI to drive SE team productivity, coaching your SE's on AI coding tools, automated demo and PoC generation, and AI assisted discovery and solution design to accelerate ramp, improve deal velocity, and free SE capacity for high-judgment work
• Lead the SE team's adoption of AI, including coaching on AI coding tools and AI-assisted discovery, solution design, and demo generation, to improve deal velocity and elevate SE capacity toward high-judgment work
• Strategizing on driving business objectives through our Value Engineering process, which leverages real quantitative customer data
• Partnering with our Demo Engineering team to build out compelling examples that showcase what our technology has to offer and prove out ROI
• Supporting quarterly quota attainment by achieving technical wins on net new business in the region
• Implementing best practices and data-driven programs to improve win rates, sales cycle, and product adoption, and to lift the efficiency of our revenue support functions in AMER
• Enforcing operational best practices on the team by maintaining consistent communication with customers and partnering with account teams to accurately forecast technical wins
• Recruiting, onboarding, and ramping new SE hires as the team scales to close current coverage gaps
• Partnering with Customer Success and Professional Services to ensure clean technical handoff and continued post-sale impact through adoption, expansion, and renewal
• Working with Product and R&D to channel field intelligence from the region into the product roadmap
• Being a trusted advisor and consultant internally and externally to technical and executive stakeholders

YOU MIGHT BE A FIT IF YOU HAVE

• 3+ years leading or coaching technical pre-sales teams in B2B SaaS, first-line management experience 
• 5+ years working as a Solutions Engineer or Solutions Architect selling to all segments, ranging from SMB through Enterprise and Strategic
• Strong technical fundamentals with prior developer experience coding in a high-level programming language such as JavaScript, Java, Python, or similar
• A deep understanding of web technologies and architecting various ecosystems to build scalable solutions
• Working knowledge of headless solutions and architecture, modern commerce stacks, and AI/search applications
• A proven track record of meeting or exceeding quota in various economic environments
• Experience hiring, ramping, and developing SE's in a high-growth team
• An interest in learning new technologies and figuring out solutions that propel businesses forward
• Excellent communication and presentation skills (able to communicate with confidence at the C-suite level to be an advocate for the team)
• A passion for leading by example and encouraging a healthy work environment that is both supportive and challenging
• A coaching mindset known for developing people and consistently raising the bar on team execution
• You know when to let a team work through problems and when to jump in to help
• Willingness to travel (up to 25% of time) 

NICE TO HAVE

• Prior experience in search technology
• Experience working in a global / matrixed organization
• Computer Science or related technical degree

The annual total cash compensation range (base salary and commission) for this role reflects market pay data within this location. The exact compensation offered for this role may vary depending on specific location and job-related knowledge, technical skills, and experience; and is only one part of our Total Rewards philosophy to compensate and recognize employees for their work.

On-Target Earnings Pay Range

$216,000 - $248,500 USD
