Short Summary:
Tailscale is seeking a Principal Product Manager to lead the dataplane platform, responsible for driving open source and commercial technology that ensures fast, secure connectivity for over 7 million devices.
Responsibilities:
- Set the vision and roadmap for the Tailscale dataplane, including WireGuard behavior and DERP relay expansion.
- Define performance and reliability as customer-facing product requirements.
- Own connectivity product strategy end to end, including regional expansion and relay health observability.
- Drive the roadmap for operational primitives like subnet routers and exit nodes.
- Own the application-layer connectivity surface, including App Connectors and network segmentation.
- Partner with design leads to create user-friendly product surfaces.
- Improve connectivity behavior across various NAT types and operating systems.
- Collaborate with GTM, Customer Success, and Solutions Engineering on production traffic commitments.
- Represent Tailscale's dataplane to enterprise customers and the networking community.
Requirement:
- 10+ years in product management for networking, transport, or infrastructure products.
- Deep networking fluency across the stack, comfortable with routing, NAT traversal, and application layer protocols.
- Proven ability to define performance commitments and handle production expectations.
