Short Summary:
As Splitero's Associate General Counsel, you will be the primary legal owner of our home equity investment origination process, supporting various teams to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations while helping homeowners access their equity.

Responsibilities:
- Serve as primary legal counsel for the end-to-end homeowner origination lifecycle.
- Advise on federal and state regulatory compliance affecting home equity investment and consumer finance products.
- Own consumer finance compliance matters, including UDAAP and fair lending obligations.
- Review and clear product, marketing, and advertising materials.
- Draft, negotiate, and manage vendor, title, and escrow agreements.
- Advise on privacy and data security compliance.
- Manage litigation, consumer complaints, and disputes.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting home equity investments.
- Partner cross-functionally with various teams to enable growth while managing legal risk.

Requirement:
- 7+ years of legal experience, preferably in law firm, regulatory agency, or in-house at a loan originator.
- JD required, with active bar membership in good standing in a US state.
- Strong familiarity with consumer finance and residential mortgage products.
- Working knowledge of consumer protection requirements.
- Experience advising on privacy and data security compliance preferred.
- Experience drafting and negotiating vendor agreements.
- Sound business-oriented judgment and excellent communication skills.
- Desire to participate in a fast-paced early-stage startup.
