Temporary Field Organizer

Work Arrangement:
Hybrid, ability to work in Richmond office 2 days per week
Short Summary:
The Temporary Field Organizer is responsible for engaging and motivating large numbers of people to take action on behalf of key Sierra Club Virginia Chapter strategic priorities associated with renewable energy and building an affordable energy future for Virginia families.
Responsibilities:
- Engage with Sierra Club volunteers and leaders to build in-person events.
- Conduct phone and text banks to support critical actions.
- Attend community events/meetings/festivals to build support for strategic priorities.
- Work independently and with staff to implement activities for strategic objectives.
- Identify, recruit, and organize volunteers for public action.
- Develop and manage in-person events, activities, and educational opportunities.
- Participate in coalition spaces to align goals with partners and stakeholders.
- Train and coach volunteers to build grassroots power.
- Report on and measure success of activities to ensure progress towards goals.
Requirement:
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively.
- Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance required.
- 1+ year of experience working with volunteers in similar organizations.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
