Short Summary:
Sezzle is seeking a technically strong, hands-on Senior Database Reliability Engineer to design, build, and scale the database platform used across its applications. This role combines deep database knowledge with software and infrastructure engineering to improve database reliability and developer productivity.

Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain shared database platform components.
- Establish reliable, scalable patterns for database interactions.
- Partner with backend engineering teams to enhance database usage.
- Build automation and internal tooling for safer database operations.
- Define and enforce engineering standards for database access and performance.
- Architect and improve database infrastructure across AWS RDS/Aurora.
- Lead initiatives to reduce operational risk and improve performance.
- Review application designs for reliability and security.
- Improve developer self-service for database management.
- Investigate production database issues and identify systemic problems.
- Create and maintain operational readiness checks for database services.
- Mentor engineers on database design and operational readiness.

Requirement:
- 6+ years of professional experience in software, infrastructure, or database engineering.
- Strong software engineering skills in at least one programming language (Go, Python, TypeScript).
- Deep hands-on experience with relational databases, especially MySQL and PostgreSQL.
- Experience with AWS RDS/Aurora and database connection management technologies.
- Strong analytical skills for database performance and observability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
