Short Summary:
Roku is changing how the world watches TV, aiming to power every television globally. The Senior Software Engineer will contribute to the embedded UI framework development, enhancing system stability and performance while impacting millions of users.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain tools to improve the quality and consistency of Roku OS logging data
- Create Python-based automation to extract, analyze, and validate log usage across large codebases
- Develop offline pipelines for processing logs to support pre-merge validation and automated data contract generation
- Write and review C++ changes in embedded codebases to ensure accurate and reliable logging
- Collaborate with system architects to extend UI framework features and improve system stability and performance
- Use agentic coding to accelerate feature development and testing
- Partner with UI infrastructure, firmware, and CI teams to integrate tooling into developer workflows
- Troubleshoot issues across pipelines and instrumentation, balancing scalability with maintainability
- Develop tools that support the larger development community within Roku
Requirement:
- 3+ years of relevant software development experience
- Proficiency in modern C++ with the ability to debug and extend embedded or firmware codebases
- Strong Python experience for building developer tooling and data-processing workflows
- Experience building JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks or working on JS virtual machines and runtimes
- Working knowledge of memory management, threading, concurrency, and debugging
- Experience improving CI pipelines, including validation and quality gates
- Familiarity with logging, telemetry concepts, and data quality improvements
- Ability to design pragmatic internal tools and APIs
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset for cross-team partnership
