Optiver is seeking a Principal Observability Platform Engineer to enhance observability as a critical platform capability. This role involves building reliable systems for metrics, logs, traces, and more, ensuring a consistent and scalable observability platform.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and operate components of Optiver’s shared observability platform.
- Develop software, services, APIs, integrations, and dashboards to improve observability.
- Enhance scalability, reliability, performance, and operational quality of telemetry systems.
- Improve developer and operator experience through self-service workflows and documentation.
- Collaborate with various teams to understand production debugging needs.
- Own the reliability and operational quality of the components built.
- Raise standards for telemetry quality and service health across Optiver.
Requirement:
- Strong engineering experience in SRE, software engineering, platform engineering, or distributed systems.
- Comfortable with reliable, scalable systems and observability practices.
- Experience designing and operating reliable services and platforms.
- Good judgement in technical trade-offs across performance and maintainability.
- Preference for candidates with experience in large-scale distributed systems environments.
- Familiarity with technologies like Kafka, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, and Prometheus-style systems is valued.
