We are seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Designer with 7–8+ years of experience in hardware product development, preferably within robotics, industrial automation, special-purpose machinery, or related engineering domains. The role involves leading mechanical design activities from concept development through detailed engineering, prototyping, validation, and final implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the complete mechanical design lifecycle for special-purpose machines, from concept and feasibility through detailed design and production.
  • Develop detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, and design specifications using CAD tools.
  • Design and optimize mechanical assemblies, machine components, and systems to meet performance, reliability, and safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, controls, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and machine systems.
  • Conduct design feasibility studies, tolerance analysis, and risk assessments to identify potential engineering challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Drive prototyping, testing, validation, and design iterations for new machine and product development initiatives.
  • Review and improve existing designs to enhance performance, manufacturability, cost efficiency, and reliability.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers and mechanical design team members.
  • Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable industry standards, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Stay updated on emerging mechanical design technologies, manufacturing methods, and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of mechanical design processes, standards, documentation, and engineering workflows.

Requirements

  • 7–8+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design and hardware product development.
  • Strong experience in special-purpose machines, industrial automation, robotics, or complex mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and CATIA.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, engineering drawings, tolerances, assemblies, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience taking products or machine designs from concept through prototyping, testing, and final implementation.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead design activities while mentoring and supporting junior engineers.
