Short Summary:
Kickstarter is seeking a Director of Brand & Communications to shape the brand's cultural presence and enhance its role in bringing creative ideas to life. This role involves leading brand communications, cultural marketing, and public relations efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Identify emerging cultural conversations and opportunities for Kickstarter.
- Generate bold ideas and mobilize teams for campaigns and partnerships.
- Build compelling narratives about Kickstarter’s brand and impact.
- Lead proactive media relations and cultivate relationships with journalists and cultural leaders.
- Serve as the senior lead for Kickstarter’s PR agency, providing strategic direction.
- Advise the executive team on corporate positioning and reputation.
- Partner with various teams to ensure cohesive storytelling across channels.
- Develop integrated brand and cultural programs from insight to execution.
- Establish goals and measures of success for brand and communications work.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team focused on creativity and collaboration.
Requirement:
- Significant senior-level experience in brand communications, cultural marketing, or public relations.
- Exceptional cultural fluency and a strong point of view on creative culture.
- Proven record of developing original ideas into successful campaigns.
- Deep relationships with media outlets and industry leaders.
- Outstanding communications judgment and clarity in storytelling.
- Experience leading PR agencies and internal teams effectively.
- Strong executive presence and collaborative leadership style.
- Understanding of measuring brand equity and campaign performance.
- Genuine connection to Kickstarter’s mission and respect for creative communities.
