IT System Engineer

💻 IT System Engineer | Infrastructure & Security

We are looking for an experienced IT System Engineer to join a freelance project and support the stable operation of our client's internal IT infrastructure during a major modernization initiative.

🌍 Location: EU-based candidates only 💼 Format: Freelance / project-based 🗣 Language: English - fluent

🔧 Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain Windows and Linux server environments
• Support VMware and Dell EMC VxRail infrastructure
• Manage software deployment, patching, and OS hardening for 1,000+ endpoints
• Support Windows and macOS endpoint environments
• Investigate and resolve 2nd-level security incidents
• Administer Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID
• Manage endpoint security, firewalls, VPNs, backup, and recovery processes
• Operate and improve monitoring and alerting
• Handle incidents, service requests, and joiner/mover/leaver processes
• Perform regular system maintenance
• Maintain technical documentation and support knowledge transfer

✅ Requirements:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in IT system administration
• Must be based in the European Union
• Strong experience with Windows Server and Active Directory
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and AWS
• Experience with Microsoft Entra ID
• Strong background in client and endpoint management
• Experience with enterprise software deployment and patch management
• Hands-on experience in security operations, including endpoint security, firewalls, and incident triage
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Fluent English
