Short Summary:
Hennepin County’s Public Works Administration is hiring a Fleet Technician Welder to fabricate, repair, and modify a variety of county equipment, including trucks, trailers, and hydraulic systems.
Responsibilities:
- Perform welding on various metals using MIG, TIG, stick welding, and acetylene equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints and drawings; estimate time and labor charges.
- Order and maintain stock welding supplies.
- Perform repairs from aerial buckets, bridges, and confined spaces.
- Conduct commercial vehicle inspections and light mechanical repairs on fleet equipment.
Requirement:
- Journey-level welder experience (2+ years).
- Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit.
- Obtain Class B CDL within six months.
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50-70 lbs.
- Supply own full complement of mechanic tools.
