Short Summary:
Under the direction of the City Engineer, this position reviews, inspects, and permits construction within the public infrastructure domain, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Reads, reviews, and interprets construction plans and specifications for compliance.
- Reviews and recommends engineering permits; inspects contractor work in public rights-of-way.
- Coordinates all permitted construction activities to minimize conflicts and ensure public safety.
- Researches and signs off on permits, following up with contractors and homeowners.
- Serves as the primary liaison for the City Engineer on construction matters.
- Provides oversight for construction activities performed in the City Right-of-Way.
- Interprets contractual documents and enforces rules and regulations.
- Assists in resolving resident and restoration concerns.
- Performs inspections and monitors compliance with NPDES regulations.
- Advises department heads on construction projects impacting city infrastructure.
Requirement:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Public Works Construction Inspection or equivalent.
- FDEP Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Inspector certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
- OSHA 10 hours Construction Safety and Health Certificate.
- Valid Florida Driver License with an acceptable driving record.
